Luigi Pannarale was born in Rome, on March 20 in 1961;
He took the degree in medicine and the residency as ophthalmologist in the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, his "curriculum studiorum" is shown below:
1985. M.D., Faculty of Medicine, State University of Rome “La Sapienza”, graduated with full marks and honours discussing the experimental thesis entitled: “Ultrastructural observations on extraocular muscles in the high myopia”
1989. Residency in Ophalmology with full marks and honours, discussing the experimental thesis entitled: “Morpho-functional study of the microcirculation of the extraocular muscles”.
1996. Ph D in Physiopathology of the Ocular microcirculation with “high positive” result. Presented thesis entitled: “Pericapillary vessels and perivascular cells in the retinal microcirculation. A M.E.S. study”
2001. Researcher of Human Anatomy, University of Rome “La Sapienza”
2005. Professor in Human Anatomy in The Faculties of Medicine and Surgery in the university of Rome "La Sapienza".

1992 Attendance at clinical and research facilities in the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, U.S.A.
1992 and 1993 Experiments on microvascular casts on experimental Retinopathy of Prematurity. Arkansas Center for Eye Research, Little Rock, Arkansas, U.S.A., in collaboration with JS Penn, PhD.
1993 M.E.S. observation of microvascular casts of the primate retina. Good Samaritan Hospital, Portland, Oregon (USA), in collaboration with Prof. E.M. Van Buskirk.
Besides :
he has spent time in the Massachussets Eye and Ear Hospital in Boston to follow operating sessions for regmatonenous retinal detachment and retinal detachment in cases of retinopathy of prematurity.
To improve the techniques of corneal transplant has followed the Prof. Kaufman in New Orleans.
To improve the techniques of YAG laser usage has followed the Prof. Fankhauser in Bern.
He annually takes part to the Congress of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, during which he attends practical and theorical courses regarding different aspects of surgical and medical practice in ophthalmology.
